Stealth III whistles are designed to look and feel very similar to traditional mass produced whistles, but are made to very strict tolerances and thoroughly tested before shipment.

The mouthpieces are made from black acetal, and are fastened together with a black acetal pin. Only close inspection reveals that they are not one-piece injection molded.

The tubes are made from a single length of brush finished brass tubing, and they are tunable by sliding the mouthpiece up and down on the tube. Each tube has a line etched in the upper end to serve as a reference point for tuning.

All Stealth III whistles will cross-finger the flattened 7th best using the traditional 'forked' fingering (OXX XOX). This is especially true for the 'Trad' whistles, which have narrow bore tubes.

Journeyman III whistles have the same mothpiece design as Stealth III whistles, but have thicker tubes made from aluminum instead of brass.

All Journeyman III whistles have tubes made from a single length of brush finished aluminum tubing, and are tunable by sliding the mouthpiece up and down on the tube. Each tube has a line etched in the upper end to serve as a reference point for tuning.

All Journeyman III whistles will cross-finger the flattened 7th very well using OXX OOO.

Ultralight tubes are 1/3 the weight of the thicker aluminum Journeyman III tubes, and 1/2 the weight of Stealth III brass tubes.

Please be advised that these whistles must be handled with a greater degree of care, as their tubes are more easily dented or crushed than any of the others I offer.

Copycat whistles are my rendition of a very familiar whistle design, and there are similar offerings from a few other makers.

Please be advised that Copycat whistles are heavier than Stealth or Journeyman whistles because of all the brass used in their construction.

Be sure to keep the tuning joint lubricated and frequently moved, because otherwise metal on metal will sieze up.

Options

Tubes with the same bore diameter, regardless of key, will fit the same size mouthpiece. This makes it possible to have multi-tube sets that share a single mouthpiece, which is more economical than having complete whistles in each key. Please note that only tubes that have the same bore diameter are interchangeable with a shared mouthpiece, as there are both Stealth and Journeyman tubes with the same tube diameter that will not fit the same mouthpiece. Journeyman tubes are turned down as thin as Stealth tubes on the end that inserts into the mouthpiece, so disregard tube diameter when choosing multi-tube sets.

For an additional $5.00 charge, left thumb holes may be added to any tube to allow a perfectly in tune flattened 7th note in both octaves without the need for cross-fingering.

Ordering

Because shipping charges must be calculated manually for each order, there is no automated process for ordering.

All orders are processed through email correspondence, and response times are kept as low as possible.

Please be sure to include your mailing address when ordering, so that accurate shipping charges can be calculated.

Payment

Payment is required in full before your order will be shipped, no exceptions. My waiting list is a stack of paid invoices that are arranged in chronological order based on when payment was received. This system, along with making a set weekly quota of whistles, permits the current wait time to be accurately estimated when placing your order.

U.S. customers who wish to mail payment may send United States Postal Service money orders only. Personal checks, cashier's checks, or money orders issued by any other institution cannot be accepted.

Western Union and MoneyGram wire transfers, and also Zelle are the only methods of electronic payment currently accepted.

Non-U.S. customers who wish to mail payment may send an international postal money order payable in U.S. dollars if your countryexchanges international postal money orders with the United States Postal Service. International money orders issued by any other instituton cannot be accepted.

Western Union and MoneyGram wire transfers are the only payment options currently available for non-U.S. customers who live in countries that do not exchange international postal money orders with the United States Postal Service.

Tennessee residents must also add 9.25% sales tax.

Shipping

All orders will be shipped via fully insured priority mail with signature confirmation, or via fully insured express mail if you'd prefer faster delivery.

You will be emailed a USPS tracking number once your order has been shipped, allowing you to track your package's progress and obtain a scheduled delivery date. You can reschedule if nobody is available to sign for the first attempted delivery, or pick up the package at your local post office beginning the next business day.

The value of any shipment is limited to the maximum insurable amount allowable per USPS restrictions, so it may be necessary to split large orders into multiple shipments.

Shipping charges for all orders will be determined in advance by using the USPS Postage Price Calculator.

You will only be charged the actual cost of shipping your order, with no added fees for handling or packaging.

Refunds

Refunds will only be issued for items that are returned in like-new condition postmarked within 30 days of receipt.

Please use the original packaging or something similar for the return shipment.

The refund policy does not cover items that have been tweaked, modified, or damaged in any way, so please take exceptionally good care of your whistle during the 30 day trial period.

Refunds will be issued in the same form as payment was originally made, and will be sent out upon receipt of the returned shipment, providing it is received in satisfactory condition.

Shipping charges are non-refundable, and a 10% restocking fee for all returned items will be deducted from the total refund amount.

The cost of postage for mailed refunds, or the transaction fee for wire transfer refunds will also be deducted from the total refund amount.

Lost or damaged items will be re-shipped or refunded as soon as the insurance claim is settled with the postal service.

Not responsible for packages that are stolen after the mail carrier has delivered them. The postal service will not accept an insurance claim for loss due to theft after a package has been flagged as delivered in the tracking system, and I cannot issue a refund or replace items that go missing in such circumstances. I add signature confirmation to every shipment to try and prevent such situations, but it's no guarantee that your mail carrier won't just forge your signature and toss the package on your porch. Please keep an eye on your tracking information and try to have someone available to sign for delivery, or have your package shipped to an alternate address if you live in an area where theft is common.

Not responsibile for uninsured returns that are lost or damaged in transit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you have an online shopping cart so that customers can easily pay via credit or debit card?

The volume of orders I process is not large enough to justify the hassle and expense of setting up and maintaining an online shopping cart that can accept credit or debit card payment.

I also only charge actual shipping cost, which must be calculated by hand based on a few different variables obtained via email correspondence.

Western Union and MoneyGram wire transfers are an option for customers who want to use an electronic payment method, and there are agent locations almost everywhere if you don't want to set up an online account with either service.

Zelle is a newer payment option that is supported by many banks, and offers instant money transfers from one account to another with no transaction fee.

Is there any difference in tone between brass/aluminum/silver tubes?

The choice of metal imparts very little difference in tone with high whistle tubes. The difference in tone only becomes discernible in low whistles, and the deeper resonance of aluminum tubes is ideally suited for low keys. Silver whistles sound a bit brighter than brass, but the difference in tone is subtle.

Does the added thickness of the aluminum Journeyman tubes change the playing characteristics of the whistles?

The finger holes on the thicker Journeyman tubes are deeper, which necessitates making them a bit larger in diameter. The deeper finger holes also add a bit of tuning stability that makes it more difficult to blow notes sharp. This is especially useful for the cross-fingered flattened 7th note if you prefer to use the easier OXX OOO fingering instead of the traditional OXX XOX forked fingering.

What is the difference between Trad/Session/Wide Bore whistles?

The Trad whistles have narrow bore tubes. Narrow bore whistles have a bit less volume and an easier second octave compared to larger bores. Most mass-produced whistles have narrow bores, and Trad whistle tubes are the Imperial equivalent of the Metric size tubes used by most manufacturers of mass-produced whistles. Trad whistles are usually the best choice for players who are already used to the playing characteristics of Generations, Feadogs, and other such mass-produced whistles.

The Session whistles have tubes that are just a bit larger than Trad whistles. They have just a bit more volume than the Trad whistles, which makes them better suited for noisier environments like sessions.

The Wide Bore D and the D+ have the same bore size as a Trad C, and require more push in the second octave. Both of these whistles are quite loud, and are best suited for outdoor venues or larger sessions.

Each time the bore size is increased for a particular key, the resulting whistle is a bit louder, the second octave requires a bit more push, and some of the "sweetness" is lost from the tone.

Do you include a pouch or case with your whistles?

Sorry, I don't. I have long recommended the vinyl pouches sold by Susato if you're looking for something cheap that provides adequate protection. If you'd rather have something nicer looking and sturdier, then I recommend Tony's Leather Creations. Tony's leather cases provide much better protection than any thin vinyl pouch ever could.
